Single Review – Young and Menace, Fall Out Boy

Single Review – Young and Menace, Fall Out Boy

Last week, long-time American rock veterans Fall Out Boy released a single from their upcoming album ‘Mania,’ due this fall. The single, ‘Young and Menace,’ is an interesting and very disappointing step outside the FOB realm. It lacks all aspects that make Fall Out Boy’s music what it is – Wentz’s witty lyrics are missing, as well as Stump’s captivating instrumentals. They are replaced with fabricated mainstream mixing and subpar lyrics – both of which feel slapped together. ‘Young and Menace’ seems like a chaotic, half-assed attempt at adapting to current radio trend. It can be argued that the attempt to drastically diversify their sound and grow their fanbase is admirable, but it’s doubtful that long-time FOB devotees will embrace it. Hopefully this single doesn’t set the stage for the entire album. PopD gives this single 2 out 5 stars.
