Senses Fail “In Your Absence”

Senses Fail “In Your Absence”

Senses Fail
Genre: Acoustic
Label: Pure Noise Records
Released: 03/03/2017

After much anticipation, New Jersey post-hardcore outfit “Senses Fail” have released a new E.P. entitled “In Your Absence”. This release features 5 acoustic tracks, including 3 new songs and 2 revised tracks from previous releases, “Lost and Found” and “Family Tradition”.

The band, celebrating their 15th year anniversary, announced the latest release alongside a music video for the first track of the record “Jets to Perú”.

The song is a poppy and catchy tune, catching elements of electronic, acoustic, and swinging vocals. Be sure to check out the music video for that one! Following that track, “In your Absence” is soft and intimate, entailing a sad story of heartache, almost a ballad of death and the feels that come along with it. “Death bed” digs deeper into a personal story lyrically, speaking of cancer and losing loved ones. A singular acoustic guitar strumming to the story gives it a lift, soaring alongside the dark lyrics to give it a comforting feeling of serenity. Coming back to an older tune, “Family Tradition” is one of the acoustic renditions off of their Life Is Not A Waiting Room album, which was released back in 2008. Wrapping up the E.P. in good fashion, “Lost and Found” is perfectly captured in this acoustic track, giving the track originally released on the bands 2006 release, “Still Searching”, a haunting feeling to end the E.P.
The band is currently on tour in celebration of their 15 year anniversary as a group, performing “Still Searching” in its entirety along with their biggest hits. Catch them at at venue near you!
PopD gives this album a 5/5
